County Manager Harry Jones' supporters seemed shocked by his termination, but Jones had given the commission so many reasons to fire him, we do not have room to list them all. A small sample: repeated financial scandals at the Department of Social Services; blind-siding Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and our national-model library system with unforeseen massive cuts; secret pay-outs for select favorite employees; and attempting to have an ordinary citizen fired for his anti-Jones opinions.
