This is a past event.
It’s been 100 years since North Carolina and the rest of the United States joined “the war to end all wars,” as it was called by naive folks back then. This half-day symposium includes talks on the state’s role in World War I from leading local historians, including Janet Hudson’s presentation “Black Soldiers Matter: Carolina’s Unheralded Soldiers of WWI,” which brings to light the experiences of the 22,000 black North Carolinians who served.
