Eye of the beholder

Saturday, March 3

If what they say is true, and beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, then you have got to feast your peepers on Jenna MacFarlane's new art series. MacFarlane is the art director for a graphic design and marketing company. In her twenty-year history in the industry, she's created designs for American Honda, Isuzu, Nestlé, Toyota, John Deere, and Sunkist among others. BREAKTHROUGH combines finger painting with other methods to create the bold images. This series of mixed media works will be on display THROUGH APRIL in Kistwerk Studio, Studio 5 located at the Arthouse, 3103 Cullman Ave. For more information, call 704-577-4587.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
