The crooning sounds of saxophones resonate through Uptown Charlotte as Charlotte Pride Magazine presents its two-day Sunset Jazz Festival. It kicks off with a performance by composer/guitarist Earl Klugh at Knight Theater. The longtime smooth jazz picker hasn't released new material since 2008's The Spice of Life, but judging from his history in the music biz (he's earned a number Grammy awards and nominations), he's got plenty of material to keep a concert going for hours. Day two of the fest is held outdoors with local and regional jazz artists Reggie Sullivan, Innertwyned, Buff Dillard, The Brubakers and more. Sept. 16: $35-$65. 8 p.m. Knight Theater, 430 S. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalarts.org.; Sept. 17: Free. 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Marshall Park, 800 E. 3rd St. For a complete schedule, visit www.charlottesunsetjazzfestival.com.
