FESTIVAL: InkFest Live 2010 Tour

Friday, May 28

Ink-covered bodies unite at this weekend's InkFest Live 2010 Tour. The tattoo expo spotlights talented tattoo artists from the U.S. and beyond. This year's guest artists include Chuey Quintanar (of Good Time Charlie's Tattooland in Anaheim, California), George Galindo (of World Famous House of Pain Tattoo Studio in EL Paso, Texas) and Paris Pierides (formerly of Cyprus and now residing in Charlotte where he has his own shop, Paris Tattoos & Piercings. In addition, the event features graffiti demonstrations, custom cars and bikes, plentiful vendors and live music performances -- you can expect to see rap act Three 6 Mafia at this year's fest, a long with other groups, including Kill Butterfly, June 5th and Carolina Villainz. Even if you've never been inked, this is a cool event to check out. For more information, call 888-249-0364 or visit www.inkfestlive.com. Cabarrus Arena & Events Center, 4751 NC Highway 49, Concord. 704-920-3976. www.cabarrusarena.com.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
