'Hootie' coming to the Q.C. 

Darius Rucker of Hootie & the Blowfish will be performing at The Oceanaire Block Party to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital on Friday, March 28, at 7 p.m.

The Block Party, which will also feature a traditional New England clambake, will be held in front of the St. Jude Charity Showhouse in the Stonegate neighborhood of SouthPark. The showhouse will be open for tours between April 4 and 27.

Tickets for the event and benefit are $100 per person and limited to the first 500 people. Call 704-554-7710 for more information.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site.
