In Tune

The Charlotte-based national touring act Hopesfall recently had their van and trailer stolen while touring outside of Dallas, Texas. In the van and trailer were the band's instruments, gear and merchandise. The band's label, Trustkill Records, has a PayPal account link set up on their website (http://www.trustkill.com/home/) for folks that would like to make a donation. Additionally, one may grease the palms of the hometown rockers by logging on to www.hopesfall.com

Chris Starks, the former singer for Karma, has started a project called Burn with a drummer from Pennsylvania and a bassist from Wilmington, NC. Starks describes the project as "sort of a Godsmack meets Disturbed with a little Audioslave thrown in"

The band DEFI is calling it quits. The members will be creating two other bands around the beginning of next year

Back from their goodwill tour of the Middle East, the members of Weekend Excursion have also announced they are disbanding. According to the band, "Being away from home also provided us with the opportunity to reflect on our own personal lives and our musical goals. After a lot of soul searching, we decided that these other aspects in our lives needed more of our time and attention. As individuals, this is just another chapter in our musical lives, but for Weekend Excursion this is the final chapter." The band will continue to play a few select shows through the end of the year -- check www.weekendexcursion.com for more

Yet another local act, Black Lagoon, ended their notorious Charlotte run with a bang at last week's Halloween bash at Fat City. Guitarist Andy Cauble says bassist Jason Teeter is moving to Tennessee, and singer Leahanne Woods is headed to San Francisco to be with boyfriend Byron McDonald (Spite/Jennifer Strip), necessitating the breakup

The Verdict, a new jazz-inflected band featuring Chandler Martin and folks from Near The Never, One Six Conspiracy and others, have a new website which includes a few MP3s. Check them out at www.theverdictrock.com.
