Juneteenth Celebration CL Recommends

When: Tue., June 19, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. 2018
Price: Free

Public schools often skip over Juneteenth, but it’s one of our country’s most significant milestones. The holiday celebrates the moment when the “last” slaves in Texas learned of the abolishment of slavery on June 19, 1865. The Levine Museum, in partnership with House of Africa, is hosting an educational family day that will highlight advancements in history since the abolishment of slavery and update visitors on the ongoing fight for civil rights.
