Jus K

Owner of Jus Brick Music

Kevin Nelson was just a kid from Brooklyn, N.Y. with a dream to sing. The funny thing about life, though, is dreams have a way of taking us on journeys before coming true. From being homeless in New York to making a leap of faith decision to move to Charlotte to continue his career to winning and Rocawear's "I Will Not Lose" video contest, this is the journey of Jus K.

"I've been doing music for a while, since I was about 16. I got my start just putting out my own music. I said I'm gonna move somewhere I can make a name for myself. Record labels look at that. Charlotte is a growing city. Everybody is running to Atlanta right now. I don't want to jump on the bandwagon like everybody."

The 23-year-old producer/singer/songwriter has come a long way from watching his Dad beat his Mom and sleeping on subways and the streets with his pregnant ex-girlfriend.

"I dedicate most of my songs to women. My mother never gave up on me. She always used to say I was going to be dead or in jail. I found my way out through God and music. I've known what it's like out there, coming close to eating out of garbage cans. It makes you hungry, like this is never gonna happen to me again. Sometimes you have to lose everything to learn how to respect it."

Jus K has his own label, Jus Brick Music (, and is working on a new album.
