Slow is the Way to Go

I was pleased to see Besha Rodell's well-written and engaging story about Carlo Petrini and Slow Food ("How Slow Do You Go?" June 6). I agree wholeheartedly with his philosophy: we live frantic lives in a throw-it-away society. If we got used to slowing down and loving our days on earth, we might naturally respond by being easier on each other and our surroundings.

For those who would like to learn more about agriculture in North Carolina or find the nearest farmers market, here's the link to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture: www.ncagr.com. The NCDA governs soil-testing, agronomical statistics, meat and poultry production, horse facilities, the State Fair, the ornamental plant industry, food and drug inspection and distribution and many other related areas.
