In this collection, Charlotte native and internationally acclaimed artist Maja Godlewska explores the fine lines that exist between form and formlessness, order and chaos, and permanence and decay. Her ethereal pieces use Rococo and Baroque styles to explore the organic beauty of art in everyday life. By using motion, swirling compositions and washes of color, she illustrates that even in the chaos of life, there is order.

In this show, Godlewska has focused her work on the nature of life, as well as the fragile balance of body and intellect. Her latest exhibit explores life's juxtapositions and helps us see that some things are not so far apart as we may think.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
