Meigan, advertising Vice president

What's your biggest turnoff?

Ignorance and rudeness.

What have you given up for your looks during the recession?

I'm much more thrifty on the clothes that I buy at this point. I have to really want it if I'm going to spend the money on it. Whereas before, if I liked it, I would get it.

What's been your best cheap date?

The best cheap date was probably a picnic in Latta Park.

What do you think about the response to the earthquake in Haiti?

From what I can tell, I think we have gone in in a timely manner, and we're helping as much as we can. But it has to be an effort from everyone around the world; it can't just be the United States.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
