Re: “Democratic National Convention 2012 Notebook: Dems, Charlotte and the homeless problem

Homelessness is probably the biggest sin that the City of Charlotte has/is committed. Our Homeless shelters are overflowing and the Director of the Women's Shelter is forced to beg for help every other week on tv to keep a growing number of women and children sheltered.

We are also home to how many major banks, Duke Energy, and countless Corps. that, to steal a phrase, host a sizeable number of the 1%.

Add to that, those "stereotypes" that Mary Curtis referred to and we have a typical southern dilemma...how do we sweep this problem under the rug, and not look racist.

Ballantyne rep Bill James has made it clear that he feels African Americans are morally bankrupt which, in his mind, accounts for the economic/health/educational disparities that many African American, (and Latino) neighborhoods face.

I think it also speaks to the action of some in Ballyntine trying to "break away" from Meck. Co. What else can we surmise when residents of that wealthy and exclusive neighborhood acted like the City was going to build housing for the Bloods and Crypts?

Crossroads Charlotte has it's work cut out for itself.

Re: “Duke Energy: Lower rates for the poor? You're kidding, right?

John Grooms and DLP thank you. It's good to know there are still people who can think and discern at the same time!
