This specialty tour examines the role of women in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, and the societal expectations placed on women in Antebellum North Carolina, including Sarah Kaiser Reed, wife of John Reed. The tour will focus on how women lived inside and outside the homestead, and the multiple roles women had to fulfill. Come learn how women defined themselves outside of their gender as teachers, miners, and activists. For those interested in learning about the impact of female labor in the area, or about the social obligations put upon women in a patriarchal society, please join us!
