MOST MISSED OLD BUILDING
Athens Restaurant
Another piece of Charlotte history bites the dust. After more than 40 years, the legendary retro diner at 101 E. Independence Blvd. (now Charlottetowne Avenue) was torn down last fall to pave the way for more CPCC parking. Scarfing down a late night bite at Athens was like a rite of passage for partygoers. Bankers, bikers, blue hairs and club kids will all miss the all-night, affordable fare and friendly service at this societal melting pot.
