MUSIC: Coldplay at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre

Friday, Aug. 7

Isn't it about time folks stop accusing Coldplay of plagiarizing the same damn song ("Viva la Vida") and start accusing each other? I'm sure by now the guys could use a break from court. So why not go on tour? Yeah, baby. The British alt-rock act Coldplay will grace Charlotte with its melodic rock creations on Aug. 7 when they perform at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. The band's most recent album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, released in 2008 and produced by the one and only Brian Eno, earned the already reputable group a pile of Grammy nominations and wins, all of course in addition to the lame-o music theft allegations. With Kitty Daisy & Lewis and Elbow. 7 p.m. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, 707 Pavilion Blvd. www.livenation.com.
