Music: Coming to your window

Rock gal' Melissa Etheridge will make her way to Charlotte on The Revival Tour 2008. Etheridge struggled with breast cancer in 2004 and was forced to step aside from music, but her passion for it didn't stop there. After releasing her 2007 album The Awakening, Etheridge is spitting her life story out through a set list of songs both old and new. I've never been a huge fan, but I have to say this chick does know how to rock. $35-$100. 8 p.m. Ovens Auditorium, 2700 E. Independence Blvd. 704-372-3600.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
