The Washington indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie -- who will visit Davidson College's Belk Arena on April 9 -- may have lost a couple of fans in recent years, but for the most part they probably made up for it in gains. With the 2008 release of Narrow Stairs -- its sixth studio album and its darkest album since 2005's Plans -- the band proved it wasn't about to keep cranking out the same good ol' saturated music, a task which takes both balls and an ample amount of creativity. Opening acts include Ra Ra Riot and Cold War Kids.
