MUSIC: Dropkick Murphys

Monday, Nov. 10

Dropkick Murphys, an Irish-American band known for brewing concoctions of traditional Celtic folk melodies and fit-pumping spirited punk rock, will hit up the stage of Amos' Southend tonight. They're sure to shout about never forgetting your roots -- a zipping theme from the band's most recent album The Meanest of Times. $23-$25. 7 p.m. Amos' Southend, 1423 S. Tryon St. 704-377-6874.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
