MUSIC: Josh Ritter at McGlohon Theatre

Wednesday, May 12

Rather than follow the path of his two parents who chose neuroscience as a career choice, Josh Ritter went the singer/songwriter route. Delivering an Americana/folk-tinged sound, Ritter is currently on tour in promotion of his newest (released May 4) CD, So Runs The World Away. The solo artist was gracious enough to make a track, "Change of Time," from the album available for free download on his Web site. Give it a listen and, provided you like what you hear, be sure to check him out when he visits Charlotte for a performance at McGlohon Theatre. With The Royal City Band. $20 and up. 7:30 p.m. McGlohon Theatre, 345 N. College St. 704-372-1000.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
