Music: Skidding through charlotte 


New Jersey rock grinders and metal swingers, Skid Row are thrashing through the Q.C. to perform at Alley Cat. The band now features Rachel Bolan, Dave "The Snake" Sabo, Scotti Hill, Johnny Solinger and Dave Gara. Their last album Revolutions Per Minute was released in 2006 on SPV Records. Although Revolutions Per Minute and the album prior to it, Thickskin, did not feature former singer Sebastian Bach, the band continues to carry on with its musical life. $25. 9 p.m. The Alley Cat, 314 North College St. 704-375-2779.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site.
