Music: Soulful vibes at Divas Live 


During Charlotte N.C. Black Gay Pride's fourth year celebration Legends, Statements & Superstars, they'll offer you soulful vibes at DIVAS Live. Soul songstress, Yahzarah aka Purple St. James will be there performing, along with local vocalist Monica Simpson and the Charlotte band, The Company. $15 for admission and $25 for V.I.P. tables. Doors open at 8 p.m. and show starts at 9:30 p.m. Faces Night Club, 2815 Crisman Ave.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site.
