MUSIC: The Avett Brothers

Tuesday, Dec. 30

No strangers to the Q.C. are The Avett Brothers, a music group blending country, folk and rock 'n' roll melodies and selling out concerts, especially in Charlotte (this year and last at the Belk Theater). The band will perform two shows on Tues., Dec. 30 and Wed., Dec. 31. Best of luck getting tickets if you don't already have them. Sold out. Dec. 30, 8 p.m.; Dec. 31, 9 p.m. Belk Theater, 130 N. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalcenter.org.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
