Music: The sound of summer

Wednesday, April 9

Summer is just around the corner and Zach Deputy is already there with his calypso, reggae, beach bum sound. The South Carolina native has spent the past five years on the southeast coast and his music will take all who hear it back to the shore. Marshall Ruffin will be jamming with Deputy for this Carolina Live Music Society Event. $7. 9 p.m. Double Door Inn, 1218 Charlottetowne Ave. 704-376-1446. www.doubledoorinn.com.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
