Re: “Heirloom offers a taste of place

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Heirloom Restaurant in Charlotte, NC. I shared two appetizers, a strawberry salad and a foraged pasta with ramps, fiddle head ferns and radishes. Both were tasty, well presented and with fresh ingredients! My main course was a fillet served on a purple sweet potato puree with radishes. It was absolutely fabulous and cooked to perfection. The dessert, which was a chocolate trio, was over the top, and forced me back to the gym.

I notice in your review, that you mentioned that the food came from both Carolinas. I can see you didn’t do your homework as the food and beverages are exclusively from North Carolina. Not both Carolinas. The chef came out and had a long conversation with me about the ingredients and the farms which they came from. They all come from North Carolina. That is why their slogan is “Locally Sourced, globally inspired”.

As to décor, my purpose in a fine dining restaurant is the food. I drive to taste the food, not to look at the ceiling. I have been to many restaurants, including last night, where the ceiling was not attractive. If that is the worst thing you have to say about a restaurant, then that is a restaurant I would choose to eat in.

As to price, I also ate at both Asbury (also a new Farm to table restaurant) and Vivace. I think you will find that the prices at Heirloom are no more or no less than the prices at these two other fine Charlotte restaurants which I dined in during my short stay in Charlotte.

Every person has their opinions about restaurants, food, décor, location, etc. I will definitely be stopping at Heirloom again and will be recommending it to my friends.
