Opera: That's Amore!

Thursday, March 27

Everything sounds charming in Italian, even if the words are ones of hate and vengeance, it all sounds like romance. Opera Carolina's production of Don Giovanni covers all the bases with beautiful Italian songs, love, passion, murder and revenge. Follow the infamous criminal through his many women and enemies amidst the music of The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and Opera Carolina Chorus. March 27, 7:30 p.m., March 29, 8 p.m., March 30, 2 p.m. Belk Theater, 130 N. Tryon St. 704-372-1000.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
