Pinning Our Hopes

Why “Pinning Our Hopes”? The safety pin is not just way of symbolizing “I stand with you” but an offer: “I will take action for you.” It says, “I accept the challenges and the risks of together facing those who would do harm.” That’s what this night is about: translating values and hopes into a safer society for us all. When we stand together we can make change, it starts with us. Do you have something to say about issues that effect our community – social justice, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ rights, supporting people of immigrant communities, Muslims and those of other non-majority faiths, people of color, and women? Access to housing, protection of our environment, common sense gun legislation, protection of our reproductive rights? We need artists, writers, performers, dancers, community activists. Please join me for an evening of connection, community, and hope, January 15 at Petra’s. Let’s shine our love and hope for the people of Charlotte – we stand for you, we give you voice, and let’s connect on taking action.
