In the promotional materials for this show, the phrase that stands out to me is “death-defying.” Pippin tells the story of a prince who’s on the search to find meaning in his existence. I mean, aren’t we all? Except few of us, I’m sure, are going into battle to do so. Other twists and turns — literally — punctuate this circus-themed performance. And with a score from the guy who did Godspell and Wicked — Tony award nominee Stephen Schwartz — you’re sure to be captivated. (Kim Lawson)
