Re: “CL Endorsements

Wow! John Grooms has lost any shred of credibility with his "easy pick" of Kim Ratliff for County Commissioner at-Large. Ms. Ratliff is clearly one of the most unqualified candidates for that position to appear on any election ballot in recent memory. PLEASE TELL ME, MR. GROOMS: What has Ms. Ratliff ever actually accomplished? During the last five years, what job has she ever actually held? Why was Ms. Ratliff, (the self-proclaimed "visible choice"), an IN-visible no-show at the WTVI - League of Women Voters Debate, (the ONLY televised debate of the entire campaign)? How could Ms. Ratliff claim in a Q-Notes interview that she was "unaware" of Louis Farrakhan's well-documented history of hate speech and anti-Semitism, but then state that she would've still attended Farrakhan's recent Charlotte appearance even if she HAD known? Wake up, John Grooms, wake up!

Re: “Endorsement night at the Black Political Caucus

Please allow me to correct my quotes in this story about the endosements of an organization which bills itself as "non-partisan." (My corrections in CAPS):

The only real fireworks of the evening came from Republican Wayne Powers, who is running for County Commissioner At-Large. Powers called on the audience not to "bow down to THE SAME OLD-SCHOOL hyper-partisan endorsements PEOPLE HAVE COME TO EXPECT FROM THE BPC," though the Caucus traditionally support Democrats.
"My hand has been outstretched IN FRIENDSHIP AND BROTHERHOOD for a HALF century, but my arm is getting tired, and I need you to extend yours," Powers said, asking the members to give him a chance.

UPDATE: THEY DID NOT.
