Rebecca McClanahan

When: Tue., April 23, 7-8 p.m. 2013
Price: Free admission
Folks with an interest in genealogy may want to make special note of this upcoming reading at Mint Museum Randolph. Author Rebecca McClanahan's The Tribal Knot: A Memoir of Family, Community and a Century of Change isn't a guide to tracing your roots, but rather an insightful glimpse into one woman’s journey to give her family's history context through letters, diaries, photographs and artifacts. In the book, McClanahan, a Charlottean who teaches at Queen's University, goes beyond the names and dates of her ancestors by painting a detailed story of their most touching life events. The book draws its title from the fascinating Victorian technique of using hair as a form of art.
