Reel Rock 7
We preview plenty of rock concerts in the pages of Creative Loafing, but for a different type of rock show, consider Reel Rock 7, a film tour that, as the title hints, is enjoying its seventh annual trip around the globe. This current Charlotte stop, co-sponsored by the Carolina Climbers Coalition and the UNC Charlotte Venture Program, allows local climbing enthusiasts and film fans to enjoy four movies that look at some of the most dedicated individuals in the field of rock climbing. Among the outdoor adventures showcased in this quartet — La Dura, Dura; The Shark’s Fin; Wide Boys and Honnold 3.0 — are ones involving competitive sport climbing in Spain, a burning desire to conquer a dangerous mountain in the Himalayas, and a solo jaunt through the rugged terrain of Yosemite National Park. In addition to the films at 6:30 p.m., there will also be a rock climbing expo at 5:30 p.m.
