Back to Brooklyn No. 1
Published by Image Comics. Written by Garth Ennis and Jimmy Palmiotti. Art by Mihalio Vukelic.
The Deal: It's the brand-new crime comic by hard-hitting writers Garth Ennis and Jimmy Palmiotti. Er ... yeah ... that's the deal.
The Good: Well, if you liked Garth Ennis' ultra-violent work on The Punisher and Preacher and Jimmy Palmiotti's hard-boiled work on Jonah Hex, then you'll dig Back to Brooklyn. It's ... well ... violent. And that's cool in a crime book. There's nothing worse than a crime book that lacks the requisite amount of violence. Now, besides the violence, something else I like about the comic is that it moves fast. I mean, really fast. This ain't no sissified decompressed comic. We get right to the gist of this five-issue limited series right here in the first issue. And that's cool.
The Bad: The art in this comic is attractive, but looks a bit stiff.
The Verdict: Buy it. It's on sale right now!
