Romare Bearden Birthday Bash: Shableek, Ken Ford

What better place to hold a birthday celebration for one of the most influential artists to ever come out of the Queen City than in the park that bears his name? If he were still alive, Romare Bearden would be turning 107 on September 2. On the day before that date, saxophonist Shableek and Ken “The King of Strings” Ford will play at Romare Bearden Park in Third Ward to pay honor to the artist, who passed away in 1988.
