Sandra Gutierrez

CPCC's annual Sensoria revolves around a week-long series events in the realms of art, literature, music, culture and cuisine. In other words, you really shouldn’t be saying you're bored anytime soon. To awaken our culinary senses Sandra Gutierrez — author of The New Southern-Latino Table, food writer/instructor and, most importantly, cook — is in town giving live demos of some of her favorite recipes during the festivities. Using her Guatamalian heritage and Southern upbringing to forge creative edibles (like say, jalapeno deviled eggs), thinking about Gutierrez just makes us hungry. Those looking to pick her brain further should head over to Levine Museum of the New South later in the day where she'll be talking about her book and dishing out more ideas for you to bring to life in the kitchen. Cooking demos: April 17, 11 a.m. CPCC (held in Philip L. Van Every Culinary Arts Center, room 200), 1201 Elizabeth Ave.For more on Sensoria, visit http://sensoria.cpcc.edu.; Lecture: 7:30 p.m. Levine Museum of the New South, 200 E. 7th St. 704-333-1887, ext. 501 (RSVP). www.museumofthenewsouth.org.
