A new exhibit at the Levine Museum for the New South is sure to spark conversation. "Families of Abraham" explores commonalities and distinctions between three major faiths -- Christianity, Judaism and Islam ˆ that claim Abraham as a spiritual ancestor. This photographic narrative follows the daily life and religious practices of 11 Jewish, Christian or Muslims families from the Charlotte area for a year. Exhibit runs through May 6. Gather by the fireside, boys and girls, and turn your radio dials to OKKK. It's Tuna time! Carolina Actor's Studio Theatre is hauling in a fresh new production of A Tuna Christmas, and you can catch it at McGlohon Theatre through Dec. 31. Tom Olson and Paul Spadafora bring you OKKK's emcees, Arles Struvie and Thurston Wheelis, and the rest of the trashy folk of Tuna, third smallest town in Texas. Watching Olson and Spadafora morph into the other dimwits, misfits, delinquents, nuts, sluts, and dwarves of Tuna -- quick costume changes are a must! -- is the keenest part of this hilarious favorite, directed by Michael Simmons, CL's reigning Theatreperson of the Year. If you're amongst the American Idol audience who welcomes non-threatening pabulum, Raleigh's native son and UNCC alum Clay Aiken returns to Charlotte this week to usher in the holidays with the Charlotte Symphony. The Symphony will kick off with seasonal perennials, and be joined in the second half of the program by Aiken, performing selections from his CD, Merry Christmas With Love. Night at the Museum, the new Ben Stiller flick about a night watchman working the graveyard shift at a museum of natural history and has to battle for his life when the exhibits come to life, premieres tonight in the IMAX Dome Theatre at Discovery Place. Moviegoers get an insider's view as they watch all the action take place on the world's largest screen, surrounded by state-of-the-art digital surround sound. Admission is $11 for ages 14-59, $9 for ages 2-13 and elders 60 and over, and free for children under 2. The poster for Charlotte-based rockers The Noises 10 declares, "Don't be a jerk!" A holiday sentiment shared by the thousands fighting for discounts at the mall even as I write this. Don't be a jerk. It's Christmas ( ... or Chanukah, or Solstice ... ) and the one time of the year when wanting peace on earth does not automatically put you on Bush's hit list of traitors. Add a dash of Malian influence to the tune of Asheville musicianship and the end result will most likely be Toubab Krewe. The year-old quartet's frequent trips to West Africa have spawned a brand of Afrorock that's been featured at Bonnaroo and the JFK Center. Maybe Disney isn't as overrated as we thought. The cast of the Emmy award-winning Disney Channel movie High School Musical will be dropping through to perform hit songs off their certified triple platinum soundtrack. In the movie, the lead characters bring inspiration to their peers by pursuing their dreams despite opposition from their friends.
