It's been five years since Shiprocked — a weekly themed shindig created by local luminary Scott Weaver — coasted into Snug Harbor, transforming a typical Thursday night into a rowdy throwdown dominated by music, dance and booze. To celebrate, this week's carnival-themed edition takes things up a notch — literally. Stilt-walkers are joining the parade of sorts, which also will feature costumed dancers, an aerialist, a fortune teller, a dunking booth, a DJ (Think: Weaver fever) and a mix of drag, burlesque and sideshow-style performances — including Bethann Phetamine, Cherry Von Bomb, Lilith DeVille and more. Don't come hungry or you'll end up chowing down on the provided carny fare (cotton candy, pop corn, hot dogs), which isn't exactly of high rank on the nutritional scales. Oh well, at least you can rock out with a bellyful.
