Cyros Sushi debuts: Cyros Sushi and Sake Bar, 6601 Morrison Blvd. (beside Rooster's), opened Thursday, Jan. 14. The menu is exclusively sushi. Rolls range from $6 to $14, and 20 varieties of sake are available. Lunch hours are Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.; dinner hours are Monday through Wednesday, 5 p.m. until 11 p.m., Thursday to Saturday, 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. Cyros is closed Sunday. www.cyrossushi.com.

Mortimer's Coffee & Pub hits EpiCentre: Co-owners Brandon Viebrock, Shawn Wilfong and Seth Wilfong have opened Mortimer's Coffee & Pub on the ground floor of the EpiCentre (210 E. Trade St.). The menu (which started Jan. 11) includes danishes, omelets, paninis and fresh-baked breads, and features Dilworth Coffee. Prices for sandwiches range from $3.95 to $9.95. Hours are Sunday through Wednesday, 7 a.m. until midnight; Thursday to Saturday, 7 a.m. until 2 a.m.

10th Annual Soup on Sunday: The Hospitality Education Division of Central Piedmont Community College is hosting the 10th annual Soup on Sunday on Sunday, Jan. 31, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For $30, you can taste more than 15 soups from a variety of restaurants. In addition to soup, there will be coffees from Caribou Coffee, breads from Great Harvest Bread Company, and pottery for sale by local potters and artists.

For an extra $10, you can get the Soup Lover's Special, which includes everything listed above for general admission, plus a handmade pottery bowl to keep.

All proceeds will benefit Hospice and Palliative Care. Admission for children six and under is free. Culinary Arts Center of Central Piedmont Community College, 425 N. Kings Dr.
