Saturday, Nov. 1

On CarnEVIL's second night, comes quite a show with Big Mamma D's House of Burlesque. Big Mamma is one of the few who do burlesque in Charlotte, along with her troupe of performers from exotic/fetish dancers to fire eaters and some other freak show acts. Who know's what the night will hold? She's sure to be decked out in an outfit just as creative as what you might see in the zombie fashion show -- also taking place at this one-of-a-kind event. $25-$35. 8 p.m. Amos' Southend, 1423 S. Tryon St. 704-377-6874.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
