SPECIAL EVENT: Pecha Kucha Vol. 4

Thursday, Sept. 17

Artist alert! Pecha Kucha Vol. 4, led by Point 8 Forum, is back to Charlotte. The underground event gives artists and creative folks the opportunity to show 20 images at 20 seconds per image on any subject they want via Powerpoint. You never know what you'll see here, but one thing's for sure: With all the social interacting and discussions related to the images projected, this could get very interesting. $5. 7:30 p.m. Hart Witzen Gallery, 136 E. 36th St. 704-334-1177. www.point8.org/pechakucha/.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
