Spoken word: Sounding off

Wednesday, Feb. 20

When I was 5 years old, I won tickets to Carowinds for having perfect attendance (yes, I'm aware how easy that is in kindergarten, but this is my story ... thanks). Anyway, I couldn't wait to get home and show my mom, but fate stepped in with a gush of wind that blew the tickets out of my hand and under a moving school bus from which they were not retrieved by me. Damn that felt good to get off my chest. You got a story to tell? StoryCorps, a national initiative to document everyday history, is coming to Charlotte to collect the story of you. They will listen to any and everything you wanna say in hopes of adding that bit of you to the oral history of America. Here's hoping my tickets make the cut. 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Main Library, 310 N. Tryon St. 1-800-850-4406.
