Spring Voices

Monday, May 7

Last year, the Charlotte Children's Choir appeared on NPR's "From the Top." Now, its high school ensemble presents their annual Youth Chorale Spiring Concert. This concert will serve as the choir's season finale as they are soon leaving for a tour of England. The musical roster will feature prominent 20th century composers with an added bonus -- one selection by James Mullholland performed with Brass Carolina. 7 p.m. $10-$12. Providence United Methodist Church, 2810 Providence Road. www.carolinatix.org.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
