Take me out to the ballgame

Take me out to the ballgame, Take me out to the ... mound!

Buy me some peanuts and ... Bud Light Limes! (That's my remix.)

Last week, I pitched in on Singles Night at Knights Stadium by throwing out the first pitch at their game against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

The Charlotte Knights is the minor league team for the Chicago White Sox -- I don't really get the concept of a minor league team, is that like the illegitimate stepchildren of the pro team? Just kidding.

As for the pitch, let's put it this way -- I successfully managed to get it from the mound to the plate, but if I was bowling it would have been a gutter ball. And I even practiced -- considering people kept sending me the YouTube video of Mariah Carey throwing the first pitch out at a game in Tokyo -- or should I say just throwing the ball down on the mound.

RockHouse Events had an entire Ragin Uptown party bus full of people come down to embark on Thirsty Thursday, cheer me on and convince me they would've swung at my pitch.

Yet, I still I felt like Carrie Bradshaw when she opened up for a puppy book at a book reading, because a little girl and a former O's player threw out a first pitch after me. I was told my pitch was better -- granted one was a toddler and the other was, like, 80.

But my "little sister" Diana sang the National Anthem and hit all the high notes, which more than made up for me not hitting the glove.

At the top of the fifth inning, they had a "Singled Out" game where the contestants had a dance off to win a date with me. I am not quite sure why anyone would want to do that -- and I know at least one contestant didn't. He's one of my friends from my hometown that just happens to be my rival in our friend's annual Christmas Dance Off. I told the crowd, "I haven't been doing a very good job of picking my own men, so you all decide for me." Everyone cheered for the introverted guy that didn't actually dance or welcome the attention ... the crowd had good taste.

Baseball babe, Knight's catcher Lance Broadway, was too busy playing his game to play mine ... darn it.

The Ragin' Uptown bus dropped us off at Woods on South and we stayed in the theme of baseball and went to George Herman's. The bartender asked me who won the game ... but I didn't even know. I guess I was too busy partaking in the party in the bleachers.

Check out the schedule for some baseball and beer:
