The Blotter

Bizarre crimes from Charlotte police reports

finders keepers: Someone broke into a home recently and stole a man's copper tubing valued at $200. If that wasn't bad enough, the suspect also stole the poor man's crack pipe.

CLEANED UP: Want to get banned from Family Dollar? Steal cleaning supplies. That's what one person did. The alleged theft of two Lysol products at $5 each earned someone a citation for larceny and a ban from the discount store.

CUTTING WORDS: A vocabulary deprived suspect keyed one woman's 2000 Chrysler one recent night. The perpetrator keyed "bitch" on the hood, "shit" on the trunk and other words elsewhere on the car. The car's owner "had no known suspect information."

DRESSED TO STEAL: A south Charlotte clothing store reported suspects entered its store four times in fifteen minutes, stealing 59 dresses valued at $7,159. Huh?

HE THINKS THE TRACTOR'S SEXY: Someone broke into the utility building of Garinger High School and stole a $7,500 tractor.

C-i-l-l my landlord: Maybe this month's rent check bounced. A woman told police her landlord stole a chair, coffee table, dresser, chest of drawers and $300 worth of women's clothing, among other items.

minor threat: A man told police he received this threat: "I know where you live. I'm not afraid of you. I'm going to get my property back no matter what."

Ill and steal: So you have a friend over, and he wants to go to the store. You're tired, so you give him your car so he can get some Cheetos and beer. Only this time he doesn't come back. That's what happened to one woman (well, all except the Cheetos and beer). She told police this person didn't return her 1999 Mercury.

forewarned: A man told police that a woman told him she was going to damage his car. Sure enough, she did. He found the words "F**k you, Asshole!" scratched into the passenger side of his vehicle.

STOLEN STYLE: A woman told police that someone stole several of her important cards and papers, including her and her kids' birth certificates, a credit card, a food stamp card and a Medicaid card. Maybe the thief was hoping for a chunk of cash -- the items were inside a $200 Versace purse and wallet, which were also stolen.

Blotter items are chosen from the files of the Charlotte Police Department.
