The Blotter

Bizarre crimes from the Charlotte police reports

HOT FOR TEACHER: A teacher at J.H. Gunn Elementary School was having problems with a student when she was hit in the back six or seven times. The suspect then tackled her, knocked her to the ground and then began kicking her.

FROWN LINES: A doctor's office reported missing four bottles of Botox, valued at $4,000.

TAXICAB CONFESSION: Three college girls got upset after a cab driver picked them up on Tryon Street. They told an officer that the driver made comments to them that "were of a sexual nature."

STEALING FROM GOD: A Baptist church reported someone stole the offering plate. The plate had in it about $20 in cash and several checks. Another church reported a stolen case-and-a-half of Coke and 150 pounds of frozen meat.

A PRO-TRANSIT ARGUMENT: A woman was stuck in traffic on Independence Boulevard when someone behind her began blowing his horn and flipping her off. When traffic started moving, he pulled up to the driver's side of her car and spit at her.

KIDS THESE DAYS: A woman called police to tell them her daughter had grabbed and scratched her arm during an argument.

FOOD FRACAS: Never take a drunk man's pizza. Two men began arguing over a piece of pizza when the intoxicated one attacked the other. At least, that's the story the victim's father, who lives with the two men, told police.

THREAT OF THE WEEK: Someone told a man: "I will kill you, and I will have someone blow off your head!" Seems like one or the other would suffice.

Blotter items are chosen from the files of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
