The musical legacy of singer James Brown continues with a performance in Charlotte by his band “The JBs” – a group of musicians that performed with Mr. Brown starting as far back as 1966 through his death in 2006. Tyrone Jefferson, a former musical director for James Brown and Executive Director of the Charlotte-based non-profit organization suggests that preserving the legacy of James Brown is akin to preserving the legacy of any musical genius (e.g. J.S. Bach or Ludwig van Beethoven) and quotes James Brown who often said that there were three “B’s” in music – Bach, Beethoven and Brown!
