'The Mermaid Hour'

The secret of our kind is that we’re not in between, we’re above.” Cruz, a genderqueer social worker, speaks these encouraging words to Vi, the tween transgender protagonist of David Valdes Greenwood’s play. As Vi navigates a tricky transition, her parents struggle to do what’s right for their child. With compassion and empathy, this world premiere production examines gender politics, family dynamics and understanding one another.
