The Storied South with William Ferris

Renowned folklorist William Ferris visits to discuss his project, The Storied South: Voices of Writers and Artists. The book and related exhibit, now on view at the Museum, reveal the ties between storytelling and southern identity through one-on-one interviews with literary greats such as Eudora Welty, Pete Seeger and Alice Walker. Ferris is Joel R. Williamson Eminent Professor of History and senior associate director of the Center for the Study of the American South at the UNC at Chapel Hill, former chairman of the National Endowment for Humanities, and the author of several books.
