When British ex-pat Rob “Bucket” Hingley formed The Toasters in 1982, few could guess the sturdy third-wave ska band would be going strong 33 years on. It hardly matters Hingley is the only original member, since his bluff vocals and brisk machete guitar defines the group’s sound. The Toasters’ rough-and-ready mix of punk tempos, R&B horns and energetic late 1970s ska that draws from Madness and the Specials has changed little over the years. (Pat Moran)
