THEATER: A Streetcar Named Desire

Cruel intentions are crucial in Tennessee Williams' beloved work, A Streetcar Named Desire. Grappling the drama is Theatre Charlotte, which is sweeping its stage with the story of a delicate Southern sweetheart, Blanche Dubois (played by Paula Baldwin), who has her chances at happiness destroyed by her evil brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski (played by JR Aducci). Recommended for ages 13 years old and up. $7-$24.   • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site.
