THEATER: Day of Absence at the Afro-American Cultural Center

On Q Productions will present its version of Day of Absence -- a satirical play written by Douglas T. Ward in 1965 about racism in the South during segregation. But this isn't your typical story from the Civil Rights Movement. In the play, a small town faces a big problem when all the black folks in it disappear. Sound strange? Well, it gets stranger. In a reverse minstrel show format, all the Caucasian characters of the show will be played by African-Americans. $15. 3 p.m. Afro-American Cultural Center, 401 North Myers St., 704-374-1565. www.aacc-charlotte.org.
